MLS Expansion - 24 teams by 2013-2014

I think this is a great idea. Having professional soccer teams in more cities is one of the best things that can be done in order to boost soccer in the US. I think it may be looked at more once it is up to 30 teams like the rest of the pro sports in the US. Then we just concentrate on getting better players, maybe pay them more money, so more good players will come. The better the players are, the more fun it is to watch and follow, and that is how soccer shall be boosted in the United States of America.

Obama: Tax Cutter or Tax Hiker?

Everyone can agree that Obama is a tax hiker.

However, the result of hiking taxes may be better than you think. Many people oppose raising taxes because it means paying more money to the government so they can waste it. First of all, he only wants to raise taxes for the rich, which makes sense to close the rich and poor gap at least slightly. Secondly, everyone fails to realize that due largely in part of the war that McCain supports and Obama opposes, the US is in debt of over $2 trillion. There has to be some way that we pay that debt back, and that large debt is causing this terrible inflation.

The person in this blog said that Obama raising taxes was going to treat Americans unequally, and greatly distort the economy. This is false information. It is not exactly socialism, but they will actually get treated more fairly.

Richards named flyers captain

I agree that he is a good choice for captain of the Flyers, and he is ready too. He is a good player and from what I have heard, a very good leader. Also, I think it is smart to make him captain as a young player, becuase it is good for the organization and teams who have captains for a long time look good.

The Dumbest Generation?

After reading the 8 reasons as to why we are the dumbest generation, I can conclude that they were wrong to a certain extent. I am not sure how literally I should take this accusation, but I chose to take it literally. I believe that nearly all of those reasons would have been valid had the title been 'The Laziest Generation,' but the dumbest, no. I do not believe that any technological advancements could possibly make us dumber. They may make it appear as though we are lazier, or more inclined to be lazy, but not make us dumber.

For example, Bauerlein said "Digital natives go to the Internet not to store knowledge in their minds, but to retrieve material and pass it along. The Internet is just a delivery system.'' I do not believe using the internet for research is any different from using a book. In fact, I think it is better. It is more easily accessible, and it provides much more useful information, literally right at the tip of your fingers. However, I must admit, that there are some things on the internet and computer that could sidetrack you from your studies, along with other technological advances. But these distractions might possibly make one lazier, but in no way do they make one dumber.

I know that there are many kids who may appear to be dumb or lazy, but I also know that there are a lot of diligent geniuses out there as well. The world is changing, but if one were to look at the progress being made, it should be hard to say that we are getting dumber.
